Workshop Description – The Printing Botanicals Gel-Plate Workshop takes you on an exciting journey of capturing florals and other vegetation with monoprints pulled from a gel-based printing plate. This method of printmaking is quite accessible, very inspiring, and highly addictive! We will use both fresh and artificial botanical material along with a few different printmaking techniques to capture both the beauty and unique detail of the botanicals.

One-Day Gel-Plate Mixed Media Workshop ‘Direct to Gel-Plate Collage’
Saturday, April 25, 2026 – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Prairie Studio 315, Saskatoon
Workshop Description – Direct to gel-plate collage is a process of layering pieces of paper and layers of acrylic medium directly onto a gel-plate and pulling a single complete monoprint collage from the gel-plate once the layers of paper have set. Creating collage directly on the gel-plate is an engaging method of composing and creating collage. The gel-plate easily accepts a variety of paper and media and encourages exploration in building layers of interest and visual relationships between the chosen collage elements. Expect the unexpected!

One-Day Gel-Plate Mixed Media Workshop ‘Printing with Gold Leaf’
Saturday, March 28, 2026 – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Prairie Studio 315, Saskatoon.
Workshop Description – Artisans have a long history of using gold leaf to elevate (gild) the surface of objects. In gel-plate printing, the addition of gold leaf to the plate introduces areas of shine, brightness, and a heightened interest to the design elements of the monoprint. Workshop participants will use micro-thin sheets of gold leaf to bring the unique qualities of gilding to their monoprints.

To clean this handmade artwork simply blow on the surface to disperse any settled dust.
